CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS
The YWCA provides childcare for children 0-4 years of age. Preschool is also available through Fort Worth ISD at the YWCA location. The children are transported to and from day care in the Mission’s private 25 passenger bus provided by Williams Trew Realty.

Children attend Fort Worth ISD schools and Lena Pope Chapel Hill Academy. Transportation is provided to both by Union Gospel Mission. Union Gospel Mission provides all resident children with school uniforms and supplies.
Union Gospel Mission’s Children’s Enrichment Program is drawing national interest in education circles with its success in turning around educationally disadvantaged children. Most children arrive at UGM 1-2 grade levels behind in both reading and math. Within months, most are at grade level or above. In the 2007-2008 school year, all but 3 Mission children were on the Honor Rolls at their respective schools. The year-round program provides learning reinforcement, homework and project help. Summer field trips, camps and other activities enable students to prepare for academic success.
College for Kids is a three week summer enrichment program for children in the first through eighth grades. Children can enroll in academic, arts and crafts, science and technology, and health and fitness classes. Courses are taught by experienced and motivated faculty who encourage and challenge students in an atmosphere that supports inquiry and exploration. |
